Skarn’s methodology

  • Consistent boundaries

    Aligned with GHG Protocol and the principles of ISO 14067, each PCF is presented with a breakdown of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.

    Scope 3 emissions are calculated with activity-based methodology, not spend-based.

  • Asset-level foundation

    Every step of the supply chain is modelled at the asset level – mines, smelters, and refineries including secondary production facilities.

    The resulting copper cathode PCF includes each step of production from cradle to gate.

  • Visible evidence

    Each PCF comes with a downloadable Evidence Pack, clearly stating the assumptions and confidence factors associated with, for example:

    Scope 2 PPA assumptions, system expansion treatment for sulphuric acid and steam, and clear allocation of emissions across co-products.
